15 Ways to Practice Self Care

Happy February everyone! I hope 2017 is treating you well, and you are on your way to accomplishing your goals for the year.

One of my many goals for 2017 is to live more mindfully, intentionally and consciously. It can be easy to overload your plate at the start of the new year, we all want to do bigger and better things.

As a college student, it can seem like the day goes by in the blink of an eye, I am racing to and from activities, classes, and trying to squeeze a meal in there somehow.

But I think it is important to take the time to slow down, to listen to what your heart needs and just exist in the moment. Not only is it a good way to destress and unwind, but it resets your thinking and allows you to be able to tackle whatever comes your way next. Since I have begun regularly incorporating a few of these aspects into my daily routine, I have found I am less stressed, more productive, and have a greater sense of agency in my life.

  1. You are absolutely right, this was beautifully said! Some ways that I practice self care are simply exercising regularly, eating healthy, and rest for 30 minutes. Additionally, I’m a freshman at college and Occasionally, I would login to Facebook and my other social media accounts and talk to people that I didn’t get to know in high school. However, as my mother always told me, “To unwind in life, you must follow what your heart desires”. I know that sounds a bit cliche but simply put, its true.
